UpWelling Communications was founded in 2025 by Jackie Leavitt.
With over a decade of communications experience spanning journalism, publishing, and digital media, Jackie Leavitt brings deep expertise in transforming complex ideas into compelling stories that drive change.
Her passion for environmental conservation was ignited during a two-month sailing trip through the Caribbean, where encounters with marine life and coral reefs—along with witnessing firsthand the devastating effects of habitat destruction—inspired her commitment to protecting the natural world.
Her work with organizations like Reef Check International and Eat Just demonstrates her commitment to amplifying the impact of sustainability-focused initiatives, while her role as Chief Editor managing international teams across multiple publications showcases her ability to develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies.
Jackie holds a Master's in Strategic Communications and combines her technical expertise with a passion for environmental conservation, making her uniquely qualified to help purpose-driven organizations effectively communicate their mission and achieve their goals.
